Most tender (like butter) rare roast beef sandwich roasted exquisitely by Kevin himself and au jus for dipping, our son, his usual choice everywhere but - the chicken Parmesan with linguini was amazing. My husband's chicken sandwich with roasted pepper mayo and onion rings was the special today. Awesome was our server, Kelli who had the best recommendations! A great glass of wine without the price tag. Oh, it just so happens we will be back next weekend!

The service is great, so is the food. An essential bar and grille-- best in the area. Plan ahead though because they get packed quickly.

It's been two years since we've stopped here for burgers on the way to skiing at Stowe and this place still rocks. The Kevin's burger is still the best burger. Period. It's juicy. Cooked exactly as ordered. Staff is friendly and attentive. I feel bad for the folks passing this place stopping at chain burger joints on the highway. It's a shame. Keep up the excellent work Kevin!

Food is fresh, well prepared and plentiful. Extremely popular weekend dinner, bar and entertainment place. If you don't get there early on Saturday you will have quite a wait. Prices are excellent. Wait staff is friendly and efficient. A wonderful place for a casual lunch or dinner. Marvelous Hamburgers and some of the specials rival gourmet venues. In the winter, the hearty soups will fill and warm you. This place is a local legend and the food, comraderie, full bar and attentive wait staff certainly deserve this distinction.

It's not very often you go to a restaurant where the owner greets you and your family with a warm welcome and great food... This is one of those occasions. The burger was one of the best I've had - thick, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The kids were happy and stuffed. Packers fans welcome!!!!

We both had the turkey rubin, which was good. Service was excellent. Tables are packed in kind of tightly.

Wear elastic waste bands or have self control. From the homemade bread basket through fresh homemade desserts you won't be disappointed. Cute diner atmosphere. Friendly staff. Delicious food.

This past New Year' eve my family went to the restaurant with my 85 year old aunt. She always raves about the place, but this time all the meals were awful. The fish and chips she had were super greasy and really bland. The batter is usually nice and flaky. This time it was hard and gross. It will be a long time until we go back again.

Excellent friendly service, good food at a moderate price in a nice old atmosphere.

Came here super late to randomly check out Bennington one night. Luckily, I had just missed peak dinner time. It was filled with locals which was what I was looking for! Had their Cajun chicken and rice soup as an app which was super thick and delicious! Then I ordered linguine with shrimp scampi and it was absolutely mouth watering. The portions are massive (from a New Yorker perspective, ha!). My boyfriend had a bacon ranch burger and also said was yummy! The staff were very accommodating and tended to our needs even though we arrived 45 min before closing since we confused the hours of the restaurant with the bar which is open till 2a. All in all, will definitely come here again with our friends when passing through Bennington.

Came here while back visiting my mom. We shared a cup of the seafood bisque, which was rather thick/filling but definitely worth it. I had to take most of my dinner home I was so full. The clam strips were tasty and not chewy overcooked. (Yay!) Portions were huge for everyone's meals. Both the side vegetable options were good; they were just overcooked for our preference. Service was friendly and the pint selection had nice local offerings I can't easily get on the west coast. I'm sure I'll be back again next time I come home to visit. In the meantime, I will rock my Kevin's Pub pint glass out in Cali. (Thanks, ma!) There's also a separate bar side of the establishment if you prefer drinks and a nice mix of different people vs. the sit down dining.

The food & service was AMAZING!!! It's authentic/fresh homemade meals. A little bit of a wait but SO WORTH IT!! This Jersey Girl LOVED IT!!!

Always amazing. Lovely, professional and friendly staff, family friendly small town atmosphere and awesome food. Mike's steak is the BEST! I have lived in several states in the US and eaten out at many restaurants far and wide including the famous Daisy Mae's Steakhouse in AZ. None hold a candle to Kevin's. Professional, friendly bartenders, fabulous steak.... and desserts. Try the Almond Creme Broule! It can be a wait, but for a reason. The place is amazing. My best advice is show up early to check in to be on a list for a table. Don't show up at Seven pm and be mad if it takes 30 min or more to get a table. Be early to the time you want to eat and visit with your date or family as you wait for a table. Enjoy!

Hard to tell if I love the food or the staff more. Both are as good as it gets. The menu is not anything out of the ordinary but they are good at the food being consistently delicious. The staff is just great too. I have never been someplace where the staff is always fun to the point of feeling like you're a guest at their house for dinner. Sometimes there is a wait, and it is worth the wait - so don't go starving on a busy night, but do wait for a table! Also, the rotation of their specials always provides something interesting to try if you want something different than what you normally get. This is my fav place ever. Any bad reviews must certainly be from people who are simply hard to please and are never happy. Too bad someplace as awesome as Kevin's couldn't even cheer them up haha

Bennington is not that big of a town, but I think that if Kevin's were magically transplanted into a large city, I would still be there Monday's for burgers and beer. As many people have pointed out already, the service is fantastic. Yes, the dinning room and bar are small, and yes you might have to do a bit of waiting (Friday and Saturday for sure) but even when the waitresses/ bartenders are zooming around as busy as can be, you will get smiles and friendly service. For the food. I gave this 5 stars based on what is supposed to be. Diner food. Don't expect something that pushes the limits of culinary art, but for a really good, fresh burger I actually do not think I have found better anywhere. Drink wise, I only ever get beer but they usually have some really good local stuff on tap and are happy to recommend for anyone unsure of trying different things. Oh- and if you come in the fall, they might put a little cinnamon on the rim of your glass for a special extra Autumn-y flavor. Delicious!

Wait, when did the name change? This place was always North B.'s weirdest named spot: Kevin's at Mike's Place III. Huh? Yeah. Weird name aside, the food is damn good. And the burgers are so good there's no need to look elsewhere on the menu (those are not the dinners you're looking for (said in your best Obi Wan voice). K loves this place. Loves. And whenever we're in Bennington he stops in. I like the bar for a few beers - there's always a good mix of regulars (townies, SVC and Bennington College kids*), people in town for art/performance/whatever, tourists. But the crowd is never obnoxious. The dining room is family friendly but there's always a wait during prime time so either come a little early or late, or go have a drink in the bar first.

Burgers as juicy as an advertisement and Arctic cold beer. Three different ball games playing on the flat screens. Any questions?

Based on the other Jeff K's review of the BLT that's what I got when a bunch of us from The Oldcastle Theatre went there recently (the tavern side). I was a visiting designer, so it was new to me, but everyone who works there regularly were known by name by the staff. We closed the place, but didn't feel like we were being thrown out. The BLT was indeed one of the best I've had -- hard to quantify why, as a BLT is pretty basic, but the bacon was rather heavenly and it was assembled with a good ratio of B to L to T... and the mayo was just right too. Really spectacular. Another place I look forward to revisiting the next time I am in the area...

We live nearby and drop in for lunch and dinner many times a year. Over the literally hundreds of meals we've had at Kevin's, we've never had a bad one! Our favorites are: Delmonico Steak, Mike's Famous Marinated Steak, Kevin's Burger, Marinated Pork Chops, Penné Alfredo, Veal or Chicken Parmesan... (some are specials). Great appetizers, like the Popcorn Shrimp, Jalapeno Poppers and Clam Steamers with Jalapenos. It's our #1 spot to go for dinner (or takeout), and they have great entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays, too! Kevin, Lindy and the entire staff are awesome people, too!

Met some friends from MA at Kevin's for a late lunch. Liked the atmosphere. Ordered some drinks while waiting for friends. They were late but arrived before the drinks did. I have noticed in reading other reviews that most people had the burger. That's what I ordered and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. I give Man of Kent in Hoosac Falls the edge, but this Kevin's burger was perfectly cooked, flavorful; nice caramelized onions, perfect cheddar melt and best bacon ever on a burger. Chewy and thick and flavorful. Fries were average but OK, Onion rings were good but failed the snap test. When you bite into a ring the onion should come apart too and you shouldn't be able to pull it out of the coating; wash, flour, wash and then coat. Now let's talk about pulled pork. No once complained but my wife said she was unimpressed. Personally I never order BBQ unless I see a smoker. Just because everyone is onto pulled pork now is no reason to break out the slow cooker and serve something that just ain't BBQ. Do it right or don't do it. Braise it in the oven if you need to but it just don't have that smoke. A shame since you have the BBQ sauce down pretty good. When my friend ordered the crab cakes, the waitress asked if she wanted tartar sauce or red sauce. My friend made a face because she knew something wasn't right but she ordered them anyway. What arrived was from a box of frozen fish sticks made into a round shape and filled with a crab meat mixture of some kind. Look, folks, you have a kitchen out there. Get some lump crab meat, make a nice light dressing, put some panko and spices in there and make some crab cakes. It ain't that hard. Service was friendly and cheerful but I thought the waitstaff could have checked on us more often. I'll come back but I'll stick to the burgers and the beer.

Like walking into - and being perfectly welcome - a small town's community picnic. Filled with locals - happy and interacting - from grey hairs to college kids. Had the Kevin's Burger, added "blackened," -- best burger I've had in a looong time! Cooked perfectly!!! Juicy. Tasty. Local crafts on tap. Prices very good. Entrees are a bit pricey, but sandwiches, burgers, apps, are better than fair. They sold us their Kevin's-labelled glasses for $3 ea. Cool. Would return. Would like to try their chili.

Great food, great service. Burgers are always a great choice but I have also had steak. Never disappointed. The wait staff is always great. Usually packed so be prepared to wait a few minutes. You won't be disappointed.

We had the chili, tuna melt, and a BLT. Everything was great. The chili has a great kick. Wonderfully friendly place to stop at during a long trip. Super cheap, too!

This is an update. Since my first visit we gave this restaurant two more tries. The second visit was better than the first. This is our third try. My husband had the burger with the mozzarella and mushrooms with fries. I had the fish sandwich. The burger was very good. The fish sandwich was just ok, nothing special. It seems Kevin's is really a burger place. The problem with this visit was the server. There should have been two. The place was very busy so it took the one server 15 minutes to take our order. The food arrived about 25 minutes later. This was not a problem since we were in no rush. The server, however passed our table several times before taking our order. At no time did she return to check on us or bring us a soda refill. She was busy bringing beer refills to another table. I guess bringing beer is more profitable than soda refills. Too bad because there aren't many good places to eat in Bennington other than pizza. The food could have added a star but the service took it away.

We tried to dine at Kevin's today but they turned our party of nine away. The guy who came out to tell us was very grumpy. After the reviews on yelp we drove from West Dover only to be disappointed.

Enjoyed the "Kevin's burger". Very nicely done and loved the slightly toasted bun and sweet potato fries. Had the Longtrail and Switchback brews, both of which were good, too. Next time in back, I'll have to try some dessert as some Yelpers suggest there are some good options.

These guys definitely serve the best burgers in town, but you have to go on a Monday or Tuesday night if you plan to get a seat! It really irritates me when you wait for over an hour, then they pull out the card table for you to sit at! I think it's time for them to start thinking about expanding!

The towniest of townie restaurants, and in the best way possible. The phrase the restaurant uses to describe itself, "where the locals go," is true--observe the denizens of North Bennington waiting for a table from around 5 PM on, every day of the week. The food at Kevin's is pretty standard American bar/grill food; I'd disagree with Emen's characterization of "upscale American." I mean, you come here to get cheeseburgers and a catcher's mitt-sized chicken parm, not nouvelle cuisine. The portions are huge, the prices are reasonable, and the waitresses (I can say that because they're all ladies) are the funniest and sweetest ever. The owners, Kevin and Lindy, are very present in the day-to-day of Kevin's, and if you eat here enough, you become a welcomed part of the general milieu. Kevin's doesn't take reservations (except for Valentine's Day, I think). Weekend evenings are a zoo, especially in the summer; if you don't want to wait 45 minutes for a table, show up at 9 or later. The dining room isn't huge, so big groups can take some adjusting (even though it seems like everyone eating at Kevin's is in a big group). The Friday night bands will always play "Brown-Eyed Girl" and "Margaritaville," the cheeseburgers will always be delicious and drippy, the butter will always be Cabot. Kevin's will always be Kevin's, which is another way of saying "the best thing about North Bennington."

After a busy day, I suggested we pick up burgers for take out. Thinking it would be like Carls or better if we were lucky. So my daughter takes care of the phone ordering and we go to pick up our food. Walking in I saw a very crowded, happy place and WOW... the food looked great & smelled even better. Just walking through to the bar to pickup our order & pay, I saw so many things I would have enjoyed. Next time, if there is one, I want to go eat out here. By the way, the burgers & sweet potato fries were terrific.

Caesar salad was served with tomatoes. Dressing consisted of vinegar , salad was the coated withe grated Parmesan. Very disappointing. Only good thing with the meal was the beer and the Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Wait staff very friendly, but lack attention.

What a great spot. Stayed in Bennington because Saratoga hotels too expensive (race season). Found the restaurant on Yelp! gave it a try. Great bar. All locals. Very friendly. Great draught beer selection. Not huge but excellent options. Try the Battenkill Ale. Brewed in Bennington. Delicious! Had the Moon Burger. Mushrooms and mozzarella. A 1/2 pound of sheer delight. Get the side of onion rings. Crispy not greasy. Could it get any better? Yes! We watched the perennial women's volleyball winners win gold. Can't wait to go back.

The food is ok, perfectly acceptable although uninspired. The atmosphere is absolutely terrible mainly because of the lighting. I go there occasionally but am amazed every time that they don't do something about it.

My family and I found Kevin's around 4:00 on Superbowl Sunday on our way home from a weekend of skiing at Stratton. The food was excellent (homemade chili rocks!) and the staff could not have been nicer. My two little nephews (ages 6 and 8) bonded with our waitress and a couple other staff folks who were preparing for a Superbowl party. The vibe in this restaurant is very homey and familiar. We can't wait to return!!!!

We went there the two nights we were in the area. No kidding, it is like walking on to the CHEERS set. Very friendly staff and customers. Wonderful local beers. Standard creative menu with nightly specials. Everything we had was very good and the portions were more than generous. If you are in Bennington, you must go to Kevin's.

The best food and drink in the Bennington area and beyond. I started going to this place when TJ owned it. Tj moved on and the chef Kevin opened his own place...or something like that. Fried Fantail Gulf Shrimp with Sweet Potato Fries. For a drink order the Cocaine Lady. Great jukebox in the bar, sometimes live acoustic music (local), that is surprisingly good. The bar area is the place to hang out, order your food, and have drinks. Not to sound like a cheeseball, but this place is a bit like Cheers.

Saw the review for this place and my wife and I drove out to try it. First the service was wonderful. The lady that waited on us was such a sweet person and so efficient. My wife had the shrimp and clam dish over angel hair and loved it. I had the cajun flounder and that too was great. The bread rolls were kind of soft and pale but the crisp crackers that came with them were good. Overall I would return. The prices aren't bad for what you get. Nice country atmosphere also.

I have been going to this restaurant for years and years with my parents (who go more frequently than I do.) The service is great; friendly and make their regulars feel like family. When I come home to visit my parents we go here and I always get the same thing, Mike's Steak! I don't know what the marinate is but it's AMAZING. The steak is always cooked to your liking with great veggies and a potato. If you're in the area, stop by!

In my brief experience this is one of the most welcoming places in the Bennington area... not only that, but a pretty wide variety of good food. The fish and chips is among the best I've had anywhere. It is obviously popular , and with good reason. And, speaking of reason, it is most reasonable.

Fantastic burgers and sweet potato fries, and friendly, efficient service is the name of the game here. Plus, they have a peppermint pattie vending machine in the waiting area! What could be better?

This is the GO-TO place! Every time I've eaten at Kevin's at Mike's Place, it has been excellent. Prices seem quite reasonable, considering quality. Personally, I would describe the cuisine as "upscale American". The only down-side is that it can be quite a wait to get in. Last I knew they would not take reservations, which certainly is a problem. However this place still has to get five stars. Can't be beat in this area. Or anywhere, frankly.
